The American College of Clinical Pharmacology, or ACCP, has awarded the 2022 Hartmut Derendorf Mentorship in Clinical Pharmacology Award to Lisa Benincosa, Ph.D., the senior vice president and global head of translational medicine at EMD Serono, a Business of Merck KGaA in Germany.
Benincosa was selected based on her exemplary promotion of clinical pharmacology, with an emphasis on training and guiding junior scientists and colleagues.
The award honors the late Hartmut Derendorf, Ph.D., who left an indelible mark on the pharmaceutical sciences and the UF College of Pharmacy before his unexpected death in Nov. 2020. He joined the UF College of Pharmacy as a faculty member in 1983 and spent over three decades serving the college, including more than 25 years as chair of the department of pharmaceutics. In honor of his distinguished service as a teacher and mentor, ACCP renamed its mentorship award to the Hartmut Derendorf Mentorship in Clinical Pharmacology Award in 2021.
